Drawing for Cultural Heritage

Research focus

The Peer review has evaluated this group as Good

Drawing is the main non verbal language, on the one hand, to concept and elaborate projects (of architecture, design, city, ecc.), and, on the other hand, to explore and study the existing manufacts. In these ambits, drawing (a whole of rules, methods and techniques of representation), through a molteplicity of iconic and symbolic signs, is an extraordinary way to comunicate both the author’s linguistic line, and also the historic-cultural ambit in which he projects. With the main target to describe and improve the cultural heritage of design, architecture, landscape, ecc., the representation – in analogical and digital forms – is the medium to investigate different kind of manufacts and ichnographic materials. In this direction, many research projects have been realezed, some of them coordinated inside the Visual Perception and Representation Unit, some else carried out as participation to research activities coordinated by other Units and Departments, both inside and also outside the Politecnico di Milano.
