Analysis and assessment of potential

We believe that the potential of individuals is crucial and we assign great importance to its analysis and evaluation. We regularly use this tool to identify people with the most suitable skills to fill senior roles or to find the best position, which allows individuals to maximize their skills.

Integration, training and professional development

We strongly believe that training is both a lever of development and a form of incentive and recognition of the commitment and professional development of individuals: to us it represents an investment, not a cost. The following types of training are delivered at the Politecnico di Milano:

  • Professional development and training
  • Institutional role-specific training (training courses)
  • Customized training based on individual needs (linked to the performance analysis and assessment programme)

Delivering training is one of our strengths:

  • Continuously updated and distributed via the internet
  • Possibility for both managers and individual staff members to suggest/apply to deliver training
  • Registration and authorization processes are managed online, resulting in extremely short response times.

Analysis and assessment of individual competencies and performance

Performance (both positive and negative) is the result of a series of events and elements that are the determinants of:

  • Consistency between the Organization’s objectives and expectations of the Role (governed by the competency model)
  • Exogenous factors of individual context and motivation
  • Consistency between an individual's competencies and the competencies required

Politecnico’s performance analysis and assessment model is the key tool used to verify the consistency and the determining factors of positive performance (in order to reward and develop such behaviour) and also of negative performance (identifying areas of weakness and defining the intervention required to improve overall performance).

Identifying and developing strengths and defining and incentivizing areas for improvement by providing training, coaching and development paths in accordance with ability (e.g. potential): these are the core elements of Politecnico’s quest for continuous improvement and excellence.
