The Technology Transfer process, in extreme synthesis, is a series of activities that arises from a need, developed along lines of research, generating innovation which, correctly protected, will be transferred in industrial applications. Technological Transfer is a complex process which involves all of the actors of society: from those who conduct research to the final consumers.
In a world where the need for innovation is increasingly evident, it is vital to know how to build a bridge between those who develop new knowledge and those who are able to bring the benefits of innovation to the final user.
For years the TTO (Promotion of Research Office) of Politecnico di Milano has striven to create this bridge and enhance the value of the research created within the university. In the pursuit of this mission, the office has been dedicated to the protection and enhancement of the value of intellectual property in its various forms of expression: invention patent, industrial designs and models, marks, and software products.
The collaboration with the industrial world is the main objective and motor of the transfer activities. They are carried out in the form of pure transfer (licensing out) and support for the management of intellectual property as autonomous and cooperative research as well as direct partnership for the creation of new spin-off companies.
